Research interests
I am a 20th century US historian who specializes in the histories of medicine, psychiatry, health disparities, and popular culture. I am currently working on a book-length manuscript tracing the history of psychological interpretations of Shakespeare's plays. Two future projects include a history of injury, drug use, and health-care access among professional wrestlers and ballet dancers, and a history of decommissioned state mental institutions.
