Professional Overview

Dr. Laura Challen is a graduate of the University of Texas College of Pharmacy.  Since completion of her Pharmacy Practice Residency with an Emphasis in Managed Care at The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Dr. Challen worked to start and manage outpatient clinical pharmacy services at the Harris County Hospital District, in Houston, Texas.  She is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at UHSP where she co-coordinates Integrated Pharmacotherapy IV (Endocrinology), Top Drugs courses and provides various lectures throughout the year.  She is also an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist at Mercy Hospital’s JFK clinic assisting with chronic disease state management, drug information, precepting pharmacy learners, and completing research.  Dr. Challen is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist and completed her Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Houston.  Dr. Challen is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
